Our History

Rockin J Ranch began as a dream. Native Tulsans Shelley and Steve Jackson often spoke with their daughters, Meredith and Stephanie, about creating a family retreat.

In 1995, Steve’s cousin introduced the Jacksons to Boswell, Oklahoma—a sportsman’s haven that immediately felt like home. In 1998, they purchased the land and spent weekends here hunting, fishing, and entertaining friends from the “brick house” that still stands today.

The estate home was built in 2005, giving the ranch its name and creating a welcoming space for family and guests. Two years later, the Jacksons began raising award-winning Black Angus cattle you can see on the property today. In 2015, the ranch’s sale barn opened to host acclaimed winter annual bull sales.

For more than 20 years, the Rockin J has been a cherished retreat for Shelley, Steve, Meredith, Stephanie, and their beloved dog Boone. After Steve’s passing in 2020, the family opened the ranch to share with others—a place where guests can experience the same beauty, adventure, and connection that has defined their story.

Today, Rockin J Ranch continues as a working cattle ranch, a guest retreat and a wedding and special event destination—guided by Shelley, carrying forward the legacy for generations to come.
